Sarah Chatfield has a background in cinematography, but moved over to directing in 2005 and has been making music videos through Colonel Blimp production company ever since. Her breakthrough came with the colourful promo for Lily Allen’s single ‘Alfie’. The live action and puppet based video was a huge airplay success and Chatfield was subsequently commissioned for a variety of other music acts including the Noisettes, Lykke Li and Annie. She was awarded Best New Director and Best Pop video for ‘Alfie’ at the CADs awards in June of 2007. At the end of 2007 Chatfield and former directing partner Chris Sweeney were approached by Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent to direct the catwalk-replacing fashion film for their Autumn/Winter '08 Menswear collection, starring Simon Woods. The film led to a further commission for the Spring/Summer 09 collection; this time a series of shorts which were displayed in a vast gallery space in the Musée de l'Homme as part of Paris Fashion Week.
