Tara Dougans

Illustrator

Tara Dougans studied fashion direction at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and is now an Amsterdam-based art director and illustrator.

She focuses on the values of ‘taking one’s time’, with her early illustrative work a reflection of a preoccupation with the authenticity of a hand-drawn line. Dougans sees fashion as play, illustration as flexible and digital as opportunity and her projects explore the intersection of handcraft and technology, static and motion. Her work is predominantly done in pencil and is characteristically heavily detailed, painstakingly crafted and often includes abstract compositions and details.

Some of her commissions include collaborations with Iris van Herpen, the Fashion Department at the Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Amsterdam Fashion Week and exclusive work for NOWNESS.com.
