Asli Umut

Filmmaker

Asli Umut is a London based filmmaker and photographer. Her work gravitates towards underrepresented communities, issues surrounding gender, sexuality and trauma. Combining art, culture, travel and music through visual storytelling, Umut is passionate about sharing the perspectives of people through journalistic vignettes, observational portraits and poetic documentaries. Her films have been screened and exhibited internationally in BAFTA qualifying festivals, and featured in It's Nice That, The Guardian and on SHOWStudio.

In 2012, after completing her BA in Philosophy and Film Studies, she relocated to London and completed an MA in Filmmaking at London Film School. Clients include adidas, ASOS, Westfield, Microsoft and Diageo, with Umut also working across creative direction, film, photography, editorial and project management, approaching all projects on a bespoke basis.
