Eric Underwood is an American ballet dancer and a soloist with The Royal Ballet Company. Having initially trained locally under the direction of Barbara Marks, and then at the School of American Ballet, New York, Eric was awarded the Philip Morris Foundation Scholarship.
He joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem in 2000 and was promoted to Soloist in 2001. He then joined ABT in 2003. His repertory includes leading roles in Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, Stravinsky's Agon, Forsythe’s Work within Work, Tharp’s In the Upper Room, Swan Lake (Von Rothbart) and roles in Cinderella, Manon and Sylvia.
In 2006, Underwood joined the Royal Ballet Company. He has since danced Mrs Pettitoes and the Consort to the Queen of Fire (Homage to The Queen), amongst others, and created roles in Chroma, DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse, Seven Deadly Sins and Wheeldon’s recent Electric Counterpoint. He left the Royal Ballet Company in 2017.
