Artist

Erica Schreiner is a video and performance artist based in New York City. Born in Oregon, Schreiner was educated at the Art Institute in Portland, where she received her bachelor's degree in graphic design.

Schreiner has a distinct style of combining her on-screen presence with the unique look of a vintage analog VHS video camera she uses to film. Schreiner writes, directs, performs, shoots and edits her own work. She explores themes including mortality, isolation, disorders, death, destruction, love, magic, the natural world, and the artist experience.

Schreiner has shown at The Bill Hodges Gallery in New York City in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, she attended a summer program instructed by Marina Abramovic at MoMA PS1, where she and 11 the other students performed together. In 2012, she joined SHOWstudio as a regular contributor with her original videos and Tumblr curation of the SHOWstudio blog. In 2015, she completed Satori, an experimental feature film created entirely by her.

Schreiner has also written several zines and two books of short stories: 'Hellos & Goodbyes' and 'Arrows' all published through Schreiner’s label, Analog Cinema.
