Franco Appiah is an Italian-born designer of Ghanaian heritage, trained at the London College of Fashion. Creating at the intersection of cultures and drawing from his own rich heritage, Appiah’s work serves as an exploration of self and identity.
While Appiah’s work exalts the beauty that is to be found on the African continent, he also wants to view it with a critical eye. Appiah aims to draw attention to the experience of queer people in Ghana, and the various boundaries that young queer Africans face both in childhood and their daily lives.
