Native New Yorker Michael Halpern graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2010, working at fashion houses J. Mendel and Oscar de la Renta before completing an MA at London’s Central Saint Martins in 2015. Shortly after graduating, he was hired by Donatella Versace to consult on Atelier Versace. During his time at Versace he developed his eponymous collection, Halpern, which debuted during the Autumn/Winter 2017 shows in London Fashion Week.

Halpern was awarded the 2017 Emerging Talent Womenswear award by the British Fashion Council.
