Isabel Marant was born in Paris, France in 1967. Originally a jewellery designer, Marant launched a line of accessories in 1989 and introduced womenswear in 1994. In 1997 Marant won the Award de la Mode, and in 1998 she was accorded the Whirlpool Award for best female designer.
Inspired by her travels through India and Africa, Marant is known for bringing a bohemian ethnicity to Parisian style. Celebrity fans of her label include Diane Kruger, Chloë Sevigny and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She launched the brand's sister label Isabel Marant Étoile in 2000.
