Jillian Mercado is an American fashion model. Diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a child, Mercado takes pride in representing women who don’t typically see themselves in aspirational advertising campaigns and magazines.
To date, Mercado has starred in campaigns for Nordstrom and Target, and in editorial features in the September issues of Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazines. She also appeared in former Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book.
The eldest of three daughters, she left her native Dominican Republic to study merchandising management at New York’s esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). After years of working behind the scenes in various capacities, Mercado submitted herself to a Diesel Jeans open casting call on a whim. Shortly thereafter, she appeared in the denim brand’s global campaign, which captured the attention of IMG Models President Ivan Bart.
In March 2016, Mercado was announced as one of three models to appear in the latest campaign for Beyoncé's official website, promoting merchandise for the singer's new single and 2016 Formation world tour.
