Kiat

Musician

As one of South East Asia's pioneers of bass driven music, Singapore-based Kiat has been championing the adventurous side of electronica with quality breaks, rolling bass-lines and leftfield influences over many years. With tunes sought after by the top DJs such as Goldie, Doc Scott, and Marky, Kiat has been featured as the 'Leader of the Nu-Skool' in international music magazines. In addition, his music productions have aired on BBC Radio 1, 1XTRA and Singapore's national radio. An award-winning art director by trade, his practice has led him to working with various mediums from producing music for dance floors, catwalks and home listening, to developing site-specific installations, exhibition & graphic design for the arts and lifestyle sectors.

His creative exploration has led him to co-found two key projects: Syndicate, an audiovisual label in Singapore, which combines music & visual with live AV performances; and System Sovereign, a multidisciplinary creative studio which create and executes trend-setting ideas for commercial clients. His work has been featured by Levi's, adidas, Nike, Smithsonian Institute, Asian Civilisation Museum and the Peranakan Museum.

After performing at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Sete, France and the Brainfeeder Session in Los Angeles, Kiat released his debut album The Inner Galaxy, an electronica soul, hip hop and dub project featuring collaborators from New Zealand, America, Iceland and United Kingdom, in 2012.
