Morna Laing is a fashion academic, and Assistant Professor on MA Fashion Studies at Parsons in Paris and the New School. She was previously associate lecturer in Cultural and Historical studies at London College of Fashion, and Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies and Theory Coordinator for BA Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. Her research interests include the fashion media, feminism and theories of looking. Her PhD thesis explored the representation of the ‘woman-child’ in fashion photography from 1990 to present day; published by Bloomsbury in 2020 as Picturing the Woman-child.
Alongside her research she is contributor to the Berg Fashion Library and recently co-organised Fashion and Re-collection, an interdisciplinary symposium at London College of Fashion. Her writing on Lula magazine and nostalgia appeared in Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty in 2014.
