Preen by Thornton Bregazzi is a ready-to-wear label founded by Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi in 1996. Thornton and Bregazzi have known each other since they were 18, when they were living and studying on the Isle of Man. Initially launched on a modest scale in Portobello Green in 1996, Preen went on to establish itself as a standalone shop in Notting Hill a year later, expanding to Tokyo and Hong Kong in 1998. Influenced by fashion designer Helen Storey, with whom Thornton worked early on in his career, recycled antique material has been a significant feature in Preen's offering of futuristic street wear and quirky tailoring.
Preen debuted at London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2001 and began to show as part of New York Fashion Week from Spring/Summer 2008 for five years. Preen returned to London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2013.
Preen by Thornton Bregazzi won the Established Designer award at the British Fashion Awards 2015. With six ready-to-wear collections a year, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi has expanded to include Preen Home, and Preen Mini (children's wear), as well as a seasonal offering of accessories and footwear.
