Sarah Chatfield has a background in cinematography, but moved over to directing in 2005. Her breakthrough came with the colourful promo for Lily Allen’s single Alfie. The live action and puppet-based video was a huge airplay success and Chatfield was subsequently commissioned for a variety of other music acts including the Noisettes, Lykke Li and Annie. She was awarded Best New Director and Best Pop video for Alfie at the CAD awards in June of 2007. At the end of 2007, Chatfield and former directing partner Chris Sweeney were approached by Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent to direct the catwalk-replacing fashion film for their Autumn/Winter 2008 menswear collection, starring Simon Woods. The film led to a further commission for the Spring/Summer 2009 collection; this time a series of shorts which were displayed in a vast gallery space in the Musée de l'Homme as part of Paris Fashion Week. Chatfield continues to direct music videos and commercials for a broad range of music, fashion and lifestyle clients.
