Taking its name from one of its co-founders, Swash is a fashion design partnership based in London. Sarah Swash and Toshio Yamanaka both studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, prior to which Yamanaka had also completed various courses in technical fashion design and trained as a pattern cutter at Kingston University and the London College of Fashion. Initially selling their designs in Japan, Swash have gone on to win acclaim in Europe, particularly after winning three prizes at the nineteenth Festival International des Arts de la Mode Hyres in May 2004, including the Grand Prix. As a result, Swash were placed on the schedule of the Spring/Summer '05 London Fashion Week. The French store 1,2,3 produced a Swash collection during Spring 2005 and the esteemed Italian fabric company Punto Seta worked with them on the fabrics for their Autumn/Winter 05/06 collection.
