Tolu Coker is a British-Nigerian fashion and textile designer and illustrator based in London. She graduated from the Central Saint Martins Fashion Design course in 2017, and her award-winning graduate collection REPLICA explored the complexities of diasporic Black identity. Largely inspired by the politics of identity and social climates, Coker's designs are informed by her multi-disciplinary practice and merge artisan craftsmanship with innovative technology.
She has completed stints at Maison Margiela, J.W Anderson and Celine, been featured in titles which include Vogue Italia, Love Magazine, Dazed, Hunger, AnOther, WWD and NME and collaborated with the likes of The Tate, Diesel and Dr. Martens. In 2018, Coker was shortlisted as a finalist for the ASOS Fashion Discovery Award. She was the recipient of The Diesel Award, The Vogue Talents Award and The ITS Time For Coffee Award at the globally acclaimed ITS 2018 Awards. Primarily based in London, in 2020 Coker became the artist-in-residence at the Swatch Peace Art Hotel in Shanghai. Clients include Rihanna, Steff London, Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi.
