Editorial Intern

Student Placement - 6 Weeks

SHOWstudio has an exciting opportunity to join us assisting our editorial department, as an Editorial Intern.

This role is for students looking for a placement, and is ideal for someone studying for a degree in fashion journalism or similar, with a strong interest in writing, fashion and the arts.

This role is for 6 weeks, starting September 2023, and requires sufficient organisational, communication and administration skills as well as excellent command of the written word.

Duties:

-Supporting the editorial and social media departments and working closely alongside the Editorial Assistant & Art and Culture Editor.

-Supporting collections coverage during fashion week, including with copy text for the website, assisting social media scheduling and posting, creating research packs, plus covering daily news and exhibitions. 

-A constant flow of ideas for relevant articles and think pieces that have a strong association with either digital fashion, the cultural arts or both. 

Skills:

- Competent knowledge of social media platforms including TikTok, Threads, Instagram and SHOWstudio's tone of voice.

- Journalistic and/or copywriting experience.

- Strong command of the written word

- Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain a tight schedule.

- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal Candidate:

- London-based, currently studying at a UK institute.

-Keen knowledge of SHOWstudio, Nick Knight and our work.

- Interest in photography, fashion, film and the arts.

- Knowledge of brands, creative directors and fashion ongoings.

- Experience producing written content for social media channels and online/print publications.

Further Details:

  • Paid travel within London and lunch.
  • Working from SHOWstudio in Central London. Nearest train and tube station is Victoria.

Film Editor

Full Time Position

SHOWstudio is looking for a talented full-time film editor to join our Fashion Film team. 
The successful applicant must have knowledge of non-linear editing systems (Premiere Pro, DaVinci etc.) and the ability to colour grade.

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive interest and knowledge in Fashion, be interested in music and new technologies.

Along with technical ability the applicant should have enthusiasm for fashion and film, as well as a creative, motivated approach. If selected the applicant will be working on all different scopes of projects, from editorial to main fashion, and many more SHOWstudio briefs.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Ingest footage & organise into a Premiere project.
  • Formatting videos for the site and for our social network outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok and Twitter.
  • Compressing and converting files.
  • Formatting films for commercial use.
  • Edit for review based on direction from the head of fashion film, to enable the smooth continuation of a project to completion.
  • This can include the following; Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film, Inputting music, dialogues, graphics and effects. Asset research and implementation. Create rough and final cuts. Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running. Ensuring highest quality of product, with no glitches or errors at project stage, export stage and upload stage. All of these are done by following visual direction and reference given by senior editor or head of department. All content produced is to be directly shown & given to the head of department for comments and approval before being shared with the team. 
  • Assistance by way of research, effect processing, footage selection, file compression and conversion, uploading, exporting etc on Nick Knight’s commercial and personal projects. 
  • Helping film team during any SHOWstudio production. This may include filming, vision mixing or helping with batteries and cards, prepping cameras as dictated by reference given or any other general assistance needed on set or in pre-production.
  • Processing of archive footage & assets as needed.
  • SHOWstudio film submission duties, ingesting all information & film link into set document structure. Marking any missing information or issues with submission. This is to be done for review by the head of department, as well as Nick Knight. As these films are being ingested and gone through, any standout films should be mentioned on a day-to-day basis to the head of department for special review. 

NECESSARY SKILL SET

  • The ability to work in both Apple and Windows environments, as required per the project.
  • Advanced in knowledge in Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, After Effects and Media Encoder.
  • Knowledge of Final Cut and Davinci resolve.
  • Knowledge of cameras and how to use them.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Flexible, highly organised and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to deal with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You must be able to take direction and work well within a team.
  • An ability to motivate and lead co-workers.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in video editing.
  • Any knowledge of Cinema 4D/ Blender.

EXPERIENCE

Candidates must be able to show a strong portfolio of work and, ideally, have 2-3 years working in a similar role in the industry. 

You must have an appreciation of Fashion Film and SHOWstudio’s legacy. The candidate must reside in the London area. Salary depends on previous experience.
