Matthew Williams' 1017 ALYX 9SM has joined forces with Italian heritage shoe label Guidi to release an exclusive shoe collaboration that merges the two labels distinctive styles. For the duo's first foray together, they have created a unique boot that comes in a range of colours.
The chunky boot is handmade in Italy, where Williams and Guidi are both based, and is crafted in vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany. The shoe features a front zipper embossed with an ALYX inscription and a rubber Vibram sole. It comes in 3 colour ways: black, yellow and white however due to the nature of the dying over time the colours will change and distort. transmitting the feeling of possessing a unique object in continuous evolution.'
The vegetable tanned leather is also tumble dyed to produce a distinct finish that is unique to each individual pair of shoes. These irregularities and differences in colour tones, according to 1017 ALYX 9SM's philosophy 'are not to be considered a defect, but give uniqueness and strength to the final design of the shoe.'
Sitting at a £1272 price point and ranging in size from EU37 to EU45, the capsule combines 1017 ALYX 9SM's utilitarian influence with Guidi's artisanal heritage. Matthew Williams is known for his use of mixing fabrics and technology to create forward-thinking designs, today Guidi's legacy is continued in their Tuscan tannery where the label balances craftsmanship with advanced footwear techniques.
