Adidas has announced the launch of the SPEZIAL exhibition at the British Textile Biennial in Blackburn. Opening to the public on the 4th of October 2019, the SPEZIAL exhibition sees the unveiling of the Adidas Blackburn SPZL shoe.
Presenting as the headliner of the British Textile Biennial, the exhibition will showcase the evolution of adidas footwear past and present with over 1000 pairs of Adidas footwear on display and will be a must see for any sneakerhead.
Curated by Gary Aspen, the exhibition will also include a variety of events within the space such as talks, gigs, and screenings, featuring special guests and friends of Adidas. The brand consultant and designer of the Adidas SPEZIAL range, Aspen has included shoes from his own personal archive, alongside those of other Adidas collectors. The lead release from the Spezial Autumn/Winter 2019 range, the Adidas Blackburn SPZL, features a green/red colourway inspired by the red rose of Lancashire and named after the town where Aspen spent much of his youth, a key inspiration in his work. Highlights include the numerous versions of the vintage adidas ‘City Series’ models with a full archive of the Adidas SPEZIAL range giving context to a new City Series silhouette.
Adidas will also be launching a new limited edition ‘Nightsafe’ silhouette in the form of the Blackburn SPZL shoe at the exhibition, where all proceeds from sales go to the Nightsafe charity, an organisation that provides support for homeless youths in the town. The shoes carry the Nightsafe logo on their footbed and a 200 pair run will be available exclusively from the exhibition.
Hanon store will have a pop-up space in the exhibition retailing Spezial product.
