Anya Hindmarch gained international recognition for her Chubby Hearts Over London design project that happened over London Fashion Week in February 2018. The campaign saw 24 giant heart shaped helium balloons suspended over different London landmarks as a love letter to the city. More recently the main room of Banqueting House was home to the ‘world’s biggest beanbag’ for Hindmarch’s Chubby Cloud campaign that attracted 3000 visitors.
This season, to chime with the launch of Postbox bag, Anya Hindmarch brings you The Postbox Maze, an immersive installation and exhibition that aims to celebrate the written word and the almost lost art of letter writing. Inspired by the patterns within M. C. Escher’s Metamorphosis III mural - designed fifty years ago for The Hague Post Office - The Postbox Maze invites visitors to not only solve the maze but to get involved with calligraphy workshops, explore letters written over centuries from around the world and discover curiosities loaned by The Postal Museum.
'Inspired by a postbox opening, I have worked on the Postbox Bag design for over two years. It is technically complicated to make and a slow process. To launch it I wanted to celebrate the almost lost art of slow communication and immerse, and indeed almost lose, our customers in this world of letterwriting.' - Anya Hindmarch
The Postbox Maze will take place at the Brewer Street Car Park from 13 Friday to Monday 16 September 2019.
