Thought fashion had ditched its maximalist ways? Think again as Balenciaga have decided to dress several of their worldwide pop-up stores, celebrating the brand's notorious Le Cagole style, in hot pink fur, staying true to the original meaning of the bag's name, which also references an 'over the top attitude' when translated into English.
The term 'Le Cagole' itself is neither masculine nor feminine and instead symbolises a merge of the two by Balenciaga. As it has slowly but surely reinvented Balenciaga codes in the tradition of maximalist 'It Bags', the collectable item has become a force to be reckoned with amongst fashion folk with its appearance popping up everywhere, from sitting on the arm of Kim Kardashian to the street style crowd at fashion week.
In true OTT fashion, the Le Cagole pop-ups create an atmosphere so beguiling you won't know where to look. Shelves, displays, floors, seating, and even racks in the open-plan kiosks are lined in different shades of pink fur. A fashion haven in short.
Guests have the option of customising their purchases, either with foil-stamped initials on a leather bag's hanging cardholder or with crystal studded initials on a denim version of the bag's hanging heart-shaped mirror. What are you waiting for? Get yourself down to 12 Mount Street, London, W1K 2RD to get stuck into the pink furry world and explore all that Balenciaga's Le Cagole has to offer. Open until 8 May.
