From BMX to skateboarding, extreme sports dominated the 90s with publications like Sports Illustrated Kids and Thrasher showcasing all the adrenaline-fuelled action. The decade couldn't get enough of fearless athletes pushing the limits of sport, with Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen becoming household names, and the annual X Games becoming an unmissable televised event. With summer right around the corner and the yearning for outdoor action and adventure building, Bimba Y Lola couldn't have picked a better time to take a trip down memory lane with their X-sports inspired S/S 23 campaign.
The nostalgia-tinged campaign is the result of art director Ashley Munns teaming up with photographer Grant James-Thomas. No stranger to extreme editorials, the London-based photographer has previously created action-packed images for Diesel and JW Anderson. For the Spanish brand, Thomas ups the ante with a myriad of sports on display including water-skiing, diving, volleyball and, of course, skateboarding.
While the models impress with their daredevil stunts, the real star of the show is the brand’s signature Pocket Bag. Never compromising form for function, the sleek silhouette embodies both with its rounded edges and front pouch pockets giving it some utilitarian flair. The versatile style is fitted with either sports straps, chain straps, and even beaded tassels making it perfect for any occasion. Crafted in both leather and technical performance fabric it's sure to be the go-to for weekends in the city and off-road adventures alike.
