When it comes to branding, some of the obvious designers come to mind with their loud monograms and bold typefaces. Yet, something needs to be said about subtlety, which is what has defined Bottega Veneta’s brand ethos since it was founded in 1966. Creative Director Matthieu Blazy is continuing the tradition of highlighting exceptional craft over logo mania with his newest bag for the Italian brand. Dubbed the Andiamo (Italian for ‘let’s go’), the bag imbues Blazy’s own founding principle for Bottega Veneta: ‘craft in motion’.

The carry-all design is the brand’s latest expression of their signature intrecciato technique and was introduced as part of Blazy's S/S 23 collection. First introduced in the late 60s, the feat of ingenuity allowed the leather house to utilise thin, supple leather straps to craft durable bags through their signature weaving technique. Form and function unite with the multipurpose design that’s fitted with a shoulder strap and a top handle making it ideal for those on the go. Of course, for a brand that values subtlety over logos or nameplates, the style is delicatley adorned with a braided strap finished with a brass bow detail adding a sculptural affect.

Bottega Veneta has long been a 'if you know, you know', kind of brand that has always relied on letting their exceptional craftsmanship do the talking. In the 70s, they introduced their widely successful campaign with the slogan ‘When your own initials are enough'.
Since his appointment in 2022, Blazy has followed suit with his own take on minimal marketing. Earlier this year the Belgian designer introduced the 'Bottega for Bottegas' campaign, which put the spotlight on independant artisans around the globe and the products they create, rather than the brand's leather goods.

The Andiamo bag is available worldwide on 7 February.
