The British mega-brand teams up with the most popular video game in the world on an exclusive in-game adventure and IRL capsule collection.
With an estimated 140 million monthly active users, Minecraft is one of the world’s most popular video games. A cultural tour de force the wildly popular video has collaborated with some of the biggest brands and artists including making a cameo in Lady Gaga’s G.U.Y. music video. Now the pixelated world of Minecraft is getting a makeover with a little help from Burberry. Following the British-style stalwarts previous forays into the world of gaming, the Burberry x Minecraft collaboration introduces a range of extensions and in-game experiences, as well as a physical capsule collection.
Dubbed ‘Burberry: Freedom to Go Beyond’, the new in-game adventure will allow players to explore a Burberry-themed world from the Minecraft Marketplace. Expect to see pixelated renditions of the brand’s TB monogram adorning the grassy fields of the interactive map, along with in-game accessories to deck out your avatar. And because life should always imitate art, a corresponding capsule collection featuring scarves, caps and tees emblazoned with pixelated renditions of the brand's logo. With pop-ups scheduled all over the world, global gamers will be able to bring the beauty of Minecraft's virtual world IRL.
Early access to the capsule collection and a set of exclusive in-game accessories will begin on the 31 October in selected countries and exclusively to Burberry subscribers.
