Burberry Is Diving Head First Into Summer
Days getting longer and warmer can only mean one thing: summer is quickly approaching. For those eagerly anticipating some fun in the sun this season, Burberry has just unveiled their first swimwear collection under chief creative officer Daniel Lee. Once again teaming up with London based photographer Tyrone Lebon — the image-maker behind Lee's debut campaign — the campaign showcases all the summer staples one might need for that upcoming warm-weather holiday.
First introduced in 1920, in its one hundred year history, the brand's iconic nova check has been stamped on everything from trench coats to mittens. For Burberry Summer, winter staples are being stored away to make room for bikinis, bucket hats, swim shorts, and robes covered in the instantly recognisable pattern. Lee's first swimwear collection since he was appointed chief creative officer in October of last year also features a slew of beach bags so anyone can rep British heritage no matter where their holiday takes them.
Proving to be a close-knit collaborator of Lee's, this is the latest in a lineup of campaigns shot by Lebon. Integral to the redesign of Burberry, Lebon's images have helped establish Lee's new vision for the brand, which juxtaposes British heritage and the contemporary. For Lee's debut campaign Lebon shot iconic locales in London, including Trafalgar Square with today's biggest emerging musicians like Shygirl and Skepta. He followed that up with portraits of Chelsea footballer Raheem Sterling and model Georgia May Jagger wearing staples from the brand's lineup.
