‘It’s a symbol of my individuality, and my belief in personal freedom’, says uber-fashionable Sailor Ripley in David Lynch’s 1990 film Wild at Heart. Played by Hollywood leading man Nicholas Cage, recent years have seen the actor embrace his one-time character’s eccentric style as he’s been papped in bold patterns, textures, and his signature leather trousers. It’s his evolving Hollywood rock’n’roll aesthetic (along with a recent purchase of a Casablanca shirt at an LA pop-up) that made him Charaf Tajer’s first pick to star in the brand’s A/W 22 collection.

Looking for someone to embody his artistic vision, it’s Cage’s filmography and flamboyant personal style that makes him the perfect ambassador for the jet-set aesthetic of the Parisian brand. Enlisting French photographer Hugo Comte to lens the campaign, Cage is joined by models Alton Mason and Anok Yai as the trio traverse sunny scenes in a hedonistic display around the City of Angels.

‘Los Angeles is an important city for me,’ explains Tajer. ‘I wanted to create a Hollywood moment between models I love, like Alton [Mason], who is a dear friend of mine, and Anok [Yai], who I truly love and think is one of the most beautiful women in the world.’

In the short time since the brand was founded in 2018 it’s built a cult following with its effervescent and uncompromising design ethos. Having racked up several accolades, including being one of the winners of the coveted LVMH prize in 2020 and being a finalist for both the International Woolmark Prize and ANDAM Fashion Award, it's already proven itself as one to watch. As the brand strives for global domination, having a certified A-lister in its latest campaign is a clear sign of its continued growth. Plus, we fully expect to see Cage rocking custom Casablanca at his next red carpet outing.
