In 2019, SHOWstudio exhibited Gratitude Blooms, a body of work begun by the artist Stephen Doherty a year earlier. Characterised by watercolour flower motifs, all in bloom, Doherty had been inspired by a trip to Goa, explaining that ‘My focus is on the flower as a celebration of nature; the power behind its softness, and the pulsing rhythm of the bloom'. Now, the multidisciplinary artist's commanding works make up the focal point of a summer capsule collection with retailer COS.

Previously collaborating on a collection for Y-3, this marks the second fashion collection featuring Doherty's work. The COS capsule focuses on the beauty of nature, which is at the core of the artist's work, complimenting the lightness of his watercolour artworks with silk and linen materials which makeup a 17-piece men's and women's collection.

Emblazoned in prints across billowing dresses, a Cuban-style shirt and short set, and silk scarves, embroidered onto bandeau tops and also seen on accessories including leather mule shoes, the commanding four artworks created for the collection take on new life in the capsule which launches online on 8 June and in select stores at a later date.
