Launching his very first physical retail space, the designer's mutant glamour universe takes centre stage in London’s New Bond Street.

Tucked away on the glitzy New Bond Street in London, a new retail vision comes into play courtesy of fashion designer Daniel Del Core, determined to bring the Italian glamour of Del Core onto one of the biggest playing fields for fashion in London and its hugely selective shoppers. 'London has always been one of my main sources of inspiration during my research trips, but here I feel there is more space to explore when you are a new designer, there is a lot more room to grow and develop in the scene. It feels like an exciting new starting point for me and my brand', Del Core tells SHOWstudio's Angel Nemov.

Launched in 2020, Daniel Del Core took his rock-glam expertise from his time at Gucci as then creative director Alessandro Michele’s VIP designer, dressing the likes of Björk. He jumped straight into a widening pool of uncertainty, his first collection being the only collection shown physically during the A/W 21 schedule in Milan under the cloud of COVID-19. Having the guts to launch a new brand during the pandemic - one of the most challenging times for businesses in the last century with multiple fashion labels closing shop - has clearly paid off. Having created seven collections for his brand in under two years, Del Core is not showing signs of slowing down, in fact his goal is to continue opening one flagship store a year, and increasing further his physical footfall and outreach to newer clientele by bringing his idea of 'mutant glamour' onto a global retail stage, a mammoth task that defines each designer’s future and whether they sink or swim.

'The store concept merges my love for science fiction and nature into one space. I started experimenting with interior ideas and worked on the staircase being inspired by a big mushroom, putting an idea of organic flow amongst a transformative space', expressed Del Core hours before the opening of his first permanent boutique.

The new retail space on New Bond Street, spanning across 707 square metres across three floors, stands out with its earthy tones of light mint green and dark lacquered handcrafted wood, resembling an extension of nature, all handpicked from Del Core’s personal sketches and interior selections. It also sets out to be more than just physical retail. On the third floor, there is a couture salon where the brand’s most loyal clients can get fitted, and explore more of Daniel Del Core’s limited couture creations, all handcrafted by a team of the oldest couturiers in Italy, a dying scene that the designer wants to bring a lot more attention and importance to.

In the lower ground floor, an atelier team are able to tailor and fit each garment specifically to each client, urging for layers of personal touch that is one of the brand’s frontiers, stemming from years and years of work with global VIPs. 'I want people to feel comfortable in this space, feeling that they are able to spend an afternoon and come and explore the garments with their friends, and feeling like this space is an extension of their personal universes.'

Del Core looks out to the future with steadfast determination. 'I wanted to get into retail as soon as possible. It is an important pillar of expression to my universe of design, as I pour a lot of my vision onto my runway show sets, and retail allows me to interact with my clients through that vision as well. It’s an essential part of the creation of this futuristic glamour that I am trying to create and communicate across the world.'
