As an afterthought to their Cruise 2021 show, Dior has released a new documentary exploring the fabled Italian region that inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri's summer collection.

Based on the heel of boot-shaped Italy, Puglia is a region famous for its locally produced cuisine (think olive oil, artichokes and asparagus), stunning coastal towns, gay culture and aquamarine seascapes. On 22 July 2020, after artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri staged her Dior Cruise 2021 show in the city of Lecce, the region also came to attention for its fashionable potential.

Italian director Edoardo Winspeare has released a 33-minute documentary entitled Dior in Puglia: the land of Cruise 2021 inspiration exploring the genesis of Grazia Chiuri's collection. By showcasing Puglia's extraordinary craftsmanship, including its history of ceramics, embroidery and the art of illuminating architecture, called Luminarie, the documentary explores the charm of Lecce's rich cultural history through the voices of the locals.

'It has been like a trip down memory lane, coming back for the Cruise, because it's allowed me to take another tour across all of Puglia to seek out these incredible talents that are here,' says Grazia Chiuri in the documentary.
