The latest in the roll-out of fashion's surprise collaborations comes from the Belgian designer and streetwear brand.

Fashion loves a good collaboration, but two brands we never expected to see jump into bed together are Dries Van Noten and Stüssy. A new capsule collection combining the cult streetwear brand's casual attire and graphic sensibility with Van Noten's Belgian eye for colour, print and cut, proves to be the collaboration we didn't know we needed.

Previously pairing up with high-fashion names including Matthew Williams and Dior, Stüssy have always embraced collaboration, making clothes inspired by the streets since the 1980s when they first originated from the California surfer's scene. Similarly, Van Noten frequently pairs his talent with artists and creatives to enrich the iconic namesake brand, infamously bringing designer Christian Lacroix back into the limelight for the S/S 20 womenswear collection.

Combining the circular DVN logo with Stüssy's graffiti-esque scribble, the collection marks a clash of brands working in different spheres, resulting in a fantastic and invigorating meeting of minds. Speaking to perhaps a slightly younger consumer than the typical Van Noten woman or man, the capsule combines Stüssy’s signature laidback California approach with the Belgian designer's eye for custom prints and exuberant patterns. Tie dye t-shirts and varsity jacket meet parka coats, printed jeans sit alongside a smoking suit, plus sweatpants and sweatshirts are given a Van Noten edge.

Unveiled in a campaign photographed by Tyrone Lebon, founding member and bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea, models the collection in a make-shift studio.

Stüssy & Dries Van Noten is available worldwide on Friday, November 18th at 10:00 CET at select chapter stores, select Dover Street Market locations, the Dries Van Noten stores, on stussy.com and driesvannoten.com
