The cult South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster have once again teamed up with Ambush for a collection influenced by 'climbing' - in the literal and metaphorical sense. Fashion's ever-evolving relationship with music also forms the backbone of the campaign with an accompanying 'Ambush x Gentle Monster collaboration track', courtesy of GroovyRoom and Ash Island. The sunglasses designed for the collaboration are described as 'minimal yet edgy', feeding into both brands' distinctive identities.
This isn't the first time the pair have collaborated in the name of fashion, having previously released a collection inspired by music legend David Bowie and his iconic Man Who Fell to Earth clear plastic glasses - frames that have popped up time and time again on the fashion scene with either transparent or yellow-tinged lenses.
Ambush's creative director YOON remarked:
'Gentle Monster has been incredible with its unique vision and presence in the industry, pumping out many unique pieces straight from Korea, my motherland. I'm proud to announce our second collaboration using our classic motifs found in our jewellery line, 'carabiner'.'
Starting from Ash Island's Dazed editorial revealed last week on 21 June, following through to the official release of the collaboration track and music video on 9 July, this new release between Ambush and Gentle monster once again looks back on how fashion and music often interlink.
