As a result of the ongoing global pandemic, brands have been forced to rethink traditional modes of showcasing fashion. Digital mediums have reigned supreme, as the only viable way of reaching fans in the absence of physical gathering spaces such as shows, retail sites and in-person events.

Gucci is firmly at the forefront of this digital revolution, with their July Epilogue 12 hour live-stream exceeding 35 million worldwide viewers, making it the brand’s most-watched digital event ever. In a new and innovative move, creative director Alessandro Michele has announced GucciFest, a digital fashion and film festival running from 16-22 November.

Michele has sought help from Gus Van Sant, a cult American director with indie roots, whose filmography includes My Own Private Idaho (1991), Good Will Hunting (1997) and Elephant (2003). The pair have co-directed a seven-part film series showcasing the new collection, starring actress Silvia Calderoni on a surreal daily routine in Rome, encountering Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Florence Welch, Lu Han and more stars. The seven episodes will be released daily through the course of the festival on YouTube and Weibo.

Together with the OUVERTURE of Something that Never Ended series, GucciFest will also screen fashion films celebrating the work of fifteen young designers handpicked by Michele: Ahluwalia, Shanel Campbell, Stefan Cooke, Cormio, Charles De Vilmorin, JordanLuca, Mowalola, Yueqi Qi, Rave Review, Gui Rosa, Rui, Bianca Saunders, Collina Strada, Boramy Viguier, and Gareth Wrighton.

GucciFest will be broadcast 16th to 22nd of November on YouTube Fashion, Weibo, Gucci YouTube and embedded on the dedicated site Guccifest.com. The complete program of the GucciFest week will be available from 13th November.
