Here’s What You Need To Know About Gucci’s Ha Ha Ha Collection
Friendship is at the core of Alessandro Michele’s latest collection for Gucci which was presented in Milan this afternoon. Titled the Ha Ha Ha collection it’s named after the creative director’s friendship with superstar (and fashion risk-taker) Harry Styles, who the Italian designer first met in 2017 following the release of his debut self-titled album. Not only is HA a combo of the duo’s initials, but it also represents their love of the laughing face emoji. While the creative forces have worked together in the past, including dressing the British heartthrob for the 2021 Grammys, this marks Michele's first collection with Styles as a creative collaborator. For Michele the choice to work with Styles was an easy one. 'The idea of working together came to me one day while we were talking on the phone: I proposed creating a “dream wardrobe” with him, starting from those small oddities that come together in childlike visions', he explains.
In true Michele fashion this dream wardrobe was presented in a vintage shop along with pieces straight from decades past. Any die-hard Gucci fan would instantly recognise the 70s-inspired tailoring crafted from rich velvets and checked tweeds. Wool sweaters and silk pyjamas stamped with hearts, sheep and cherry motifs add a playful irreverence that both the creative forces have made their signatures. With the English crooner in the midst of the European leg of his Love On Tour tour, we expect to see Styles donning these looks any day now. As for the rest of us, the covetable collection is set to hit Gucci stores worldwide come October.
