In celebration of Christian Dior's muse Mizza Bricard, the house's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has redefined the iconic Bar jacket for the modern era (spoiler alert: there's cheetah print involved).

Redesigning the Bar jacket from the inside out, Maria Grazia Chiuri has decided to base the house's latest development of the iconic style on one of the first Dior muses, Mizza Bricard. Paying homage to Bricard's 'feline grace' Chiuri's spin is a modern one, to say the least, so modern there's cheetah print, (and lots of it).

A symbol of style, sophistication, elegance and most importantly, Dior, the Bar jacket can be traced back to 1947. Synonymous with Christian Dior's New Look - a style revolution that remains unmatched to this day - its hourglass silhouette appealed to women in a way no fashion style had done before. Gone were the days of boiler suits, overall and cheap rags; gone was the World War Two gloom that was looming over everyone's heads, Christian Dior's rounded shoulder style, always seen with a cinched waist and full-bodied skirt, embodied the pinnacle of opulence and extravagance that people had been unknowingly waiting for. The opportunity to step out of your overalls had arrived, and people didn't just jump, they leapt.

Fast forward to the modern day, and Dior have promised that no part of the production process has been compromised, making sure the Bar jacket, despite being 74 years on, is still as luxurious as it was before. After the fabrics are laid out, cut, shaped and assembled, the Bar jacket is brought to life, through the completion of branding it with the 'Christian Dior' signature. Paying tribute to the first 1947 Bar jacket creation, Chiuri's 2021 version echoes the original style through its attention to detail with even the buttons covered in the stand-out jacquard print.

The Bar jacket has always represented freedom and self-affirmation due to its femininity yet powerful design - now it's been reimagined in a cheetah print; you could say it just as daring and bold as it is elegant and charming.
