Since Martine Rose founded her label in 2007, she’s been expertly weaving her love of fashion and music in her subversive designs. Further exploring the fusion of fashion and music, Rose has teamed up with rappers behind the chart-topping track ‘The Hillbillies’, Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar. The limited-edition merch collaboration pushes the boundaries of Rose’s already well-established design language with playful motifs referencing the Grammy-nominated track.
‘I was thrilled when we got the chance to collaborate,’ Rose explains. ‘Last year’s concert was amazing, and it’s an honour to work with Kendrick and Baby Keem. We wanted words to be the main focus of the graphics, choosing phrases that mean a lot to us.’
While wardrobe staples like T-shirts and scarves are boldly stamped with lyrics like ‘Big Protein’, and ‘Best Dressed’, the collection references vintage rave flyer graphics. Because it wouldn't be a Martine Rose collection without celebrating UK culture, the lineup also features no shortage of football-inspired designs. A nod to Rose's love of 'The Beautiful Game', the collab includes her iconic twisted football shirt, which will surely end up on superfan's wishlists around the world.
The collection celebrates the Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar's Camp Flog Gnaw performance which took place last week. Attendees had the chance to purchase pieces ahead of everyone else, from the exclusive merchandise strand. Well, fans of Martine Rose and 'The Hillbillies' won't be suffering from FOMO much longer with a general release happening tomorrow.
A limited run of the Martine Rose x The Hillbillies merch will be available on www.martine-rose.com from Wednesday 15 th November.
