Matty Bovan Launches 'BOVAN' Capsule

BOVAN is the new label by Matty Bovan, offering up the fruits of the designer's time spent locked down in his studio in Yorkshire. A departure from Bovan's archetypal knitwear and couture ballgowns, BOVAN explores more casual findings, without missing out on the designer's artisanal touch. Jersey, sweatshirt and sportswear fabrics are hand printed and painted with the designer's unmissable vibrant drawings, presented in a visual diary featuring Matty wearing the designs alongside a hand-made scarecrow mannequin. Jumping from character to character, the clothing and backdrops evolve throughout the look book, with Bovan having painted over each previous scene. The fun doesn't stop there- some images were then manipulated using digital oil paint, an exercise in dystopian distortion which follows nicely on from S/S 20, where models wore magnifying face lenses created by Stephen Jones.

Also new to the party is a capsule by the designer's fabulous mother Plum Bovan, who, always dressed to the nines, is behind the jewellery in many a Matty Bovan collection. Plum Bovan for BOVAN offers a limited selection of earrings, necklaces and brooch pins. 'As a designer I think it's really important that I offer something unique and totally different to the customer...Every piece has been touched by hand, using paint or screen printing techniques, and everything is limited and pretty much one-off, each piece has its own multi-layered story' the designer explains. It's all also at a more accessible price range, with items priced from £35 to £275. Now more of Bovan's fans can have a taste of the designer's magic touch.
