Milan-based Medea have released a new product in their line up of sleek, It bags. The label, helmed by twin sisters Camilla and Giulia Venturini, is best known for their 'Prima' tote. A shopping bag-inspired shape that gained overnight success with fans such as Dev Hynes and Kaia Gerber. For the accessories labels newest offering, Medea have dropped a small leather case with a detachable metal chain and their logo embossed in silver. First teasing the product in an instagram post in July, the 'Lipstick Case' is made in Italy from 100% calfskin leather and is available in a range of 11 colours including apricot, pale blue, black and red. Launched online today and retailing for €130, the bag features a magnetic latch and is perfect for hanging off belt loops or larger Medea products.
To celebrate the release of the 'Lipstick Case' Medea enlisted 'It girl and horrible boy' Harry Freegard to create a series of six short films starring the tiny purse. The shorts include the reworking of iconic films including 1980s thriller The Shining and 1961's classic Breakfast at Tiffany's. For the first film released today, directed by Freegard and shot by Luke Clayton Thompson, we see Freegard dressed as Holly Golightly as he goes to visit Tiffany’s store on London’s Bond Street. Wearing Golightly's signature black dress and pearls, he clutches a Medea 'Lipstick Case' in silver, containing a lipstick that he then proceeds to apply in the store window.
Another film released shortly after shows Freegard re-enacting an unforgettable scene from The Shining. Playing the role of Jack Torrance, Freegard is seen breaking through a door with his terrified wife (also played by Freegard) on the other side. As Freegard's face appears through a gap in the wrecked door he exclaims 'here's Medea!' whilst holding the yellow colourway of the 'Lipstick Case.'
The Medea Lipstick Case is available online at medeamedea.it and selected retailers. The rest of the campaign short films will be dropping via Medea's Instagram in the coming days.
