Michael Kors is nothing if not a true New Yorker. After all, it’s been the designer’s home since he first enrolled to the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1977. So if anyone knows just how unpleasant summers are in the city, it’s certainly Kors. Not landlocked to the sky-high cityscape of Manhattan, the designer is escaping to the coastal scenes of California for his diffusion label, MICHAEL Michael Kors’ summer campaign.
Known for their contemporary casual aesthetic, MICHAEL Michael Kors reimagines the designer’s runway designs for the everyday wardrobe. For summer this meant easy-to-wear staples like slip dresses and the brand’s signature bags crafted from rattan. While neutral tones make up much of the collection, pops of electric turquoise, geranium and lime green add a much welcome dose of vibrancy perfect for days by the pool or road trips down the Pacific Coast Highway.
The campaign was shot by Australian photograpeher Lachlan Bailey who perfectly captured the bronze glow that SoCal is famous for. A cast of characters, including Malibu native Bella Hadid, soaking up the rays of LA and enjoying sunsets while they sail is sure to incite some summer wanderlust. As if you needed anymore convincing to take a holiday, the campaign showcases the brand's monogram luggage that will have you ready to pack your bags.
