Miu Miu launches the eighteenth episode of Women's Tales, a series of short films enlisting female directors to explore femininity and vanity, pillars of the twenty-first century Miu Miu woman. Scottish director Lynne Ramsay is the latest creative enlisted – previous individuals include Zoe Cassavetes, Chloë Sevigny and Lucrecia Martel.
For the documentary, Ramsay flips the lens on legendary photographer Brigitte Lacombe, an artist known for her iconic on-set photography and her monochrome portraits of subjects including Mrs Prada. Ramsay offers a rare insight into Brigitte's photographic process and her methods of relating to the world. An investigation into the process of looking, it is never clear who is commanding who in the documentary.
Brigitte premieres at the Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori on 1 September 2019 alongside a screening of Shako Mako by Hailey Gates.
