Mulberry creates the first sustainable bag, responsibly sourced down to every detail.

British heritage brand Mulberry has released its first fully sustainable bag. The initiative is part of the brand's aim to have the least environmental effect through production from start to finish. Named the Portobello Tote, it is made entirely in the United Kingdom at the brand's carbon-neutral factories.

The awareness of its sustainable production has been carefully deliberated with heavy grain leather material, which is a by-product of food production, to the stitching done by recycled polyester fibre thread.

'Our starting point for this family was the ultimate everyday item, the plastic bag — functional, but throwaway. The Portobello keeps the beautiful utility of this silhouette and elevates it into an elegant tote that is practical and, more importantly, made to last,' Mulberry's Creative Director, Johnny Coca, says of the design.

From each sale, 100% of net proceeds will go to World Land Trust. A conservation charity, which funds the creation of reserves and provides permanent protection for habitats and wildlife.
