Musée des Arts Décoratifs Open Their Doors To New Schiaparelli Exhibition
Fashion's never-ending obsession with surrealism is no hidden secret. Embraced by large fashion houses and small designers everywhere, you'd be hard-pressed to think of a brand that hasn't co-opted the movement's iconic motifs and graphics into their designs. However, no matter how far the obsession ventures or obscure its references, the industry collectively only knows of one designer who has managed to carve a career based on the dream-like state of mind.
Conjuring up a vision that has lasted some eight decades, Elsa Schiaparelli is the master of surrealism. With that, celebrating the late designer and her legacy, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris opened their doors this week to a six-month exhibition staging some of the late great's designs. Covering all decades of the house, the exhibition will feature an array of iconic pieces past and present - from the brand's 30s and 40s collaborations with Jean Cocteau and Salvador Dalí to the more recent Daniel Roseberry years spent reviving the French house's iconic archive.
If you're lucky enough to find yourself in Paris over the coming months and looking for your fashion fix, we're sure that Shocking! The Surreal Worlds of Elsa Schiaparelli will not disappoint.
Shocking! The Surreal Worlds of Elsa Schiaparelli will remain on show at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs until January 2023.
