By artists for artists, Bio Editions is the latest project behind street art duo Snikarts, aiming to help support young artists amid the pandemic.

Bio Editions, created by street artist Nik Ellis, with the help of artist and young graduate Honor Greenwood, have recently published their first book under the enchanting name Ephemeral, documenting the work urban art giants Snikarts - made up of both Ellis himself and his work partner Laura Perret, also assisted by Greenwood. Uncovering not only their artworks but the process behind them in which they were carefully and lovingly made, Ephemeral focuses on the beauty and craft of what it means to make art - placing just as much importance on the behind-the-scenes material as the final pieces themselves - something SHOWstudio has been a long-time supporter of since our inception in 2000.

A show in two parts, it all started with the art duo's Ephemeral exhibition at London's Crypt Gallery in 2019 before heading to an undisclosed location for 2021. The book reveals the artwork created as part of both exhibitions while also providing an insight into each show's creation and production, which Snikarts believes - sharing similar values with SHOWstudio - is integral to the artistic process.

Although the first publication under Bio Editions documents Ellis' own work at Snikarts, what makes Bio Editions stand out is Snikarts' vision for what they want the publishing company to be. By artists, for artists, Bio Editions stands tall against other publishing houses by having the direct and unique experience of understanding what it means to be an artist, particularly one caught during the peaks and troughs of a pandemic. After the last year and a half has decimated many careers, in the creative industry and others alike, it's more important than ever for artists to receive support for their work, something that's always been a struggle for young creatives, pandemic or no pandemic, meaning the problem has only been exacerbated tenfold more recently. So, when the support comes directly from other artists, that exposure can often prove to mean even more.

Retailing at £40, Ephemeral is available to buy now through the Bio Editions website.
