You only have to turn on the news or scroll through your social feed to see that we’re living in troubling times. So troubling that we wouldn’t blame you for packing it in and becoming a full-fledged survivalist. Well, that's what Off-White had in mind for its latest collaboration. Teaming up with Korean utilitarian label Post Archive Faction, purveyors of outdoor furniture Helinox, and the OG Swiss army knife manufacturer Victorinox, Off-White has crafted a collab perfect for any urban explorer in training. With survival in mind, the capsule collection EQUIPMENT™ spans clothing, accessories, and furniture rooted in conceptual utility.
Making its runway debut in Paris as part of Off-White’s A/W 22 show, the brand’s partnership with the cult Korean collective Post Archive Faction was conceived by late creative director Virgil Abloh back in 2020. Founded by Dongjoon Lim and Sookyo Jeong, the brand was still in its infancy when approached by Abloh to create a performance wear collection thanks to its conceptual spin on utilitarian gear inspired by dystopian themes. Finally coming to fruition earlier this year, Post Archive Faction crafted bomber jackets, hoodies, trousers, tees, hats, and bags adorned with black fig leaf appliqués. Inspired by military camouflage, the three-dimensional motifs were made with urban environments in mind, blending seamlessly with the concrete jungle.
This covert motif continues throughout the collection with outdoor furniture by Helinox. A global leader in camping gear, the Korean brand's signature Sunset Chair and One Hard Top Table are swathed in Post Archive Faction's tonal fig fabric. Not sacrificing the functionality that makes Helinox a favourite among camping enthusiasts, the collapsable and transportable design is shaped from lightweight aluminium that makes travel a breeze.
And because no survival centric capsule collection would be complete without some tools, Off-White has enlisted legendary knife manufacturer Victorinox to craft the EQUIPMENT™ pocket knife. The resistant, stainless steel design is comprised of 11 individual tools including a corkscrew, screwdriver and wood saw so you're always prepared for any situation. It also marks the first time the Swiss company has redesigned its knife blades, reshaping them as a reference to primitive stone axes.
