Prada and adidas Collaborate on A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 Trainer

Ever since Prada announced a collaboration with adidas in a mysterious Instagram post last November, the fashion world has been rapt. Did the collaboration mean there would be shoes, clothes, or better yet, bags? Prada at an affordable price? Yes please.

So far, shoes and bags have both appeared on the menu. In November 2019, the pair collaborated on a two-item drop that included a reworking of the classic adidas Originals Superstar sneaker and an item inspired by the Prada Bowling bag and the adidas gym bag. Combining adidas' sporty, subcultural roots with Prada's modern take on luxury resulted in a slick yet surprising meeting of minds.

The next iteration of the Prada for adidas saga has arrived. The first stage of the collaboration saw Prada bring its distinct DNA to adidas, whereas in this new chapter, adidas has instead brought its expertise to Prada, creating the A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 trainer.

Perhaps surprisingly, the LUNA ROSSA trainer is crafted for the sport of sailing, with a silhouette that has a lightweight appearance and feel. Celebrating Prada and adidas' shared legacy of sporting excellence, with the shoe designed as an extension of the athlete’s body, the trainer will be worn in competition by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team.

A lifestyle version will however, be available for purchase for the more fashion-minded among us. Designed with sustainability and environmentalism in mind, the upper part of the trainer is created from recycled materials, whereas the outer shell has breathable support which prevents water from penetrating the shoe. The trainer's ergonomically designed EVA tongue and perforated synthetic-suede inner saddle accentuates its sailing performance capabilities.

The adidas for Prada A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 silhouette launches globally in a white colourway on December 9 2020, via Prada boutiques and adidas flagship stores worldwide.
