Sacai has announced their sacai gem collection, launching exclusively this week at Dover Street Market to celebrate the retailer's 15th anniversary. The collection consists of Napoleonic parka jackets, a silhouette which will appeal to DSM's luxury streetwear customer.
Following Sacai's transformative sportswear presented for their collaborative A/W 19 Nike collection, creative director Chitose Abe now re-imagines an outerwear staple. Piping across the chest and collar echoes that of Napoleonic jackets bringing a historic edge to the parka jacket, a reference most notably used for John Galliano's 1984 graduate show Les Incroyables and in Alexander McQueen's A/W 96 Dante collection. Sacai's military-esque parka comes in two main colourways across mens and womenswear: black jackets for both feature black piping and gun-metal silver buttons, whilst in khaki the women's jackets have camel piping and brass buttons and for men's black piping finished again with brass buttons. The women's parka is also a slightly wider and more billowing silhouette than the slimline mens. With the DSM customer well-versed in getting their hands on limited drops, don't expect sacai gem to hang around long when it drops this Friday.
sacai gem for DSM will be released from the 29th November 2019 at Dover Street Market London, N.Y, L.A, Ginza, Beijing and in Singapore on December 5th.
