Across London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks, SHOWstudio and Harrods present a spectacle proposing the future of fashion as SHOWstudio takes up an exclusive residency inside the iconic London department store, open to the public.

'A stunning series of live installations in the windows and on the fifth floor of Harrods are dedicated to the themes that underpin fashion’s digital future: fashion film, CGI technology, Zoom calls, artificial intelligence, 3-D scanning, live broadcasting and Instagram. SHOWstudio was founded as the platform for fashion film and upon championing new, more relevant ways of communicating fashion, and these digital pillars are fundamental in replacing what came before', SHOWstudio's director and founder Nick Knight explains.

There have long been calls for the fashion industry to change, and the global pandemic has accelerated fashion's willingness to embrace new technologies and formats with which to communicate. SHOWstudio was established in 2000 by Nick Knight as a platform for fashion film, and over the past twenty years, we have championed new mediums in their earliest stages, from being the first to live stream a runway show, (Alexander McQueen's S/S 11 Platos Atlantis), to creating a 360-degree fashion film for Maison Margiela.

This September and October, fashion weeks will see a continuation of what we saw earlier in the summer: mostly digital activations and films, but now with the addition of more physical activations. However, in a post-lockdown world, the industry has been forced to slow down. A newfound pace together with the industry's destructive impact on the environment and the fact that the majority of press and buyers are still unable to travel, means that it's become clear that digital mediums are to be the primary avenue of exploration for the future. 'Fashion is going through total and long overdue change, and our planet demands that fashion must be sustainable' says Knight.

Having previously collaborated on the Fashion Film Awards, the #SHOWstudioXHarrods partnership presents the future of fashion across a series of window installations and on the fifth floor of Harrods in Knightsbridge. Leading creators from fashion film, CGI technology, artificial intelligence, digital animation, Instagram and 3-D printing and scanning present their transformative visions of fashion's present and future. Also joining the mix will be SHOWstudio's live, unfiltered fashion commentary for the S/S 21 season. We'll be bringing you unique curations of the shows, presentations and collections of the season, complete with live reviews and panel discussions.

Experience #SHOWstudioXHarrods from Friday 18th September to Wednesday 7th October in store at Harrods and at SHOWstudio.com
