Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of Louis Vuitton womenswear, not only designed the French house's pre-fall 2021 collection, but he also photographed it. He chose English-French actress Stacy Martin of Nymphomaniac (2013) fame to star as the ambassador for the collection. In Ghesquière's sumptuous imagery, shot at a French castle, Martin poses against a marbled wall, a snooker cue stand, wood-panelled bookshelves and a hearty kitchen AGA. 'Stacy has innate elegance and an inspiring personality. I have a lot of respect for her career path, her bold choices and the roles she takes on. I love the way she wears my collections,' said Ghesquière. The electric colours of the designer's high-tech, futuristic garments form an interesting juxtaposition with the more traditional interiors.

Ghesquière's previous Louis Vuitton S/S 21 womenswear show explored the zone between femininity and masculinity in a rare runway show at the LVMH La Samaritaine department store, with expansive green screens showing Wim Wenders’s black and white Wings of Desire (1987) film.
