Nick Knight has curated a list of artists to appear as part of the platform Contribute.to, which is building a vital new network for the creative community.
Co-founded by Cosmin Ene and Nicola Erni, Contribute.to is a new initiative supporting the creative community, by creating an online network where established artists, art experts and industry figureheads such as Nick Knight, are invited to curate their own selection of artists to share with the world. With galleries set to remain closed until at least April 2021 in the UK, an online network such as this is more vital than ever.
The community Contribute.to is building, allows for artists to be promoted for a far lower fee than say, a gallery space. Creatives are able to reap the monetary benefits of being part of the network, as other members are able to make contributions to support the artist's work if they so fancy. The idea here, is that the 'likes' we all know so well from social media apps, can be translated into real value, essentially rewarding creativity and changing the way that art lives online. It's an avenue which provides art lovers a way with which to support the artists they love, alongside new image-makers they might have only just discovered. The founders will also match contributions made to artists in their own collections. This week, all funds will be doubled by Erni.
Contribute.to having been working with museum curators, art experts and artists to help grow their network by inviting them to be a curator or a collector. Proudly undertaking the role of curator, SHOWstudio's founder Nick Knight has chosen to spotlight 20 creatives including the poet Sonny Hall, photographers Britt Lloyd and Thembinkosi Hlatshwayo, designers Fecal Matter and painter Cristina Banban.
