The French conscious footwear brand VEJA is launching its first ecological running trainer named the Condor, having spent four years researching and developing the shoe as a sustainable option for runners. The shoe is made from 53% bio-based and recycled materials; a marked improvement on a typical trainer, which is generally made up of 99% plastic. Given VEJA's status as the it-sneaker of the moment, its first foray into performance attire looks to shake up current sustainability conversations in the athletics wear market.

The trainer will be available in six different colour combinations, in keeping with VEJA's fashion credentials. The shoe has a biomimetic design, its shape inspired by the bone structure of the condor, the South American bird from which the shoe gets its name. It has been designed to optimise running on both roads and dirt tracks and promises to be a flexible and light trainer.

The shoe launches in stores on 19th September 2019.
