Dr. Martens has partnered with A-COLD-WALL* as part of their ongoing 1460 Remastered series. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of their iconic silhouette, designers including the likes of Raf Simons and A Bathing Ape have given their unique takes on the original 1460 style. Next up is Samuel Ross of A-COLD-WALL*. Like Dr. Martens, A-COLD-WALL* finds its roots in the British class system. Ross works to democratise the language of fashion and design, using menswear to create a social commentary on British culture and class, often drawing on architecture and merging tailoring with workwear staples. First made in 1960, the Dr. Martens 1460 has been a staple in the wardrobes of British workers and working class subcultures such as the skinheads. Now refined through Ross' unique creative lens, the new design features no eyelets, a dual-branded silicone zip pull, moulded panel detailing and an A-COLD-WALL* branded heel debasement. Angular features are particularly effective in reflecting Ross' architectural design principles.
'The 1460 is placed right in the middle of 20th Century cultural crosshairs. It’s incredible.' Samuel Ross, A-COLD-WALL*
