Standing at the forefront of Valentino's latest Valentino Roman Palazzo campaign is actress Zendaya. Chosen by the house's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, for 'embodying the same values as Valentino but conveying a sense of contemporary romanticism,' Zendaya, shot by the legendary David Sims, looks powerfully beautiful, a classic image that's synonymous with the femininity Valentino is known to exude through their wondrous creations.
The advertising campaign continues the narrative of Piccioli, who shot the collection in Rome. Grandioseness has been stripped away and replaced with an 'unexpected place', giving way to intimacy, allowing Zendaya to steal Sims' lens - no distractions.
'Throughout an aesthetic choice, it is possible to represent a whole identity. This is the power of fashion and this is the power of human beings' Pierpaolo Piccioli said in a statement, referring to the multiple possibilities of self-expression through art and culture. Piccioli's vision for the fashion house exists beyond empowering women, by choosing Zendaya to be the face of Valentino Roman Palazzo Campaign, the creative director hopes to champion a sense of sensuality and romance, enriched by memories but not necessarily the nostalgic kind, the futuristic one, that encourages us to look to the future while creating our own, or in Piccioli's words, 'An identity that reflects in a new generation.'
